On November 14th of this year, the City of Tampa celebrated the groundbreaking of the Carol Kennedy Aquatics Center at the South Tampa Family Center on 4411 South Himes Avenue. The new facility is expected to open in mid-2015.
The new $3.5M Aquatics Center will provide a safe place for swimming education, exercise and recreation for Tampa Families.
Mayor Bob Buckhorn was one of several who spoke at the groundbreaking celebration, touching on the importance of water safety and swimming skills in a state where drowning is a leading cause of death in children under 4. We hope many new families will come out to support the YMCA in Tampa and make use of this great new facility.
